Firefly T1 FAQ

Power On & Off

Q: Firefly T1 won't power on — what should I do?

A: Check the following:

  1. Is the battery installed correctly? Pay attention to polarity — it won't boot if reversed.
  2. Does the battery have charge? Try charging before powering on.
  3. Long-press the center button of the 5-way joystick for 2+ seconds to make sure the operation is correct.

Q: How do I turn it off?

A: On the home screen (not in a light effect view), single-press the "down" button to turn it off.

Charging & Power

Q: How long does charging take?

A: With a 5V/1A or higher charger, it takes about 2-3 hours to fully charge. There is an indicator light next to the Type-C port while charging.

Q: Can I use it while charging?

A: Yes. When plugged in, it automatically switches to external power mode and works normally even without a battery installed.

Q: What charger do I need?

A: Any standard phone charger or power bank works — Type-C port, 5V input.

Connecting to a PC

Q: The USB drive doesn't appear after connecting to a PC?

A: Make sure:

  1. The cable supports data transfer (some charging-only cables don't).
  2. The device is powered on.
  3. Try a different USB port or cable.

Q: The PC doesn't recognize the device?

A: If it's in firmware flashing mode, power it off first, then hold the joystick's "right" button while connecting to the PC.

Light Effects

Q: How do I install new light effects?

A: See the App List & Installation guide and install by dragging files over USB drive mode.

Q: An effect I added doesn't show up?

A: Check whether the config.json file is filled in correctly. See the app installation guide for details.

Q: How do I delete unwanted effects?

A: Connect to a PC in USB drive mode, delete the corresponding effect folder under /apps/, and remove its entry from config.json.

Other

Q: Which LED strips does Firefly T1 support?

A: Common addressable LED strips/rings such as WS2812, connected via the 5P-PIN interface. See Compatible LEDs & Wiring for wiring details.

Q: How do I update the firmware?

A: Follow the Firmware Update & Flashing guide.
